May Day

On the first of May it's May Day. It marks the first day of summer (although it rained!). The fire department put up the maypole in our small village in front of the townhall. A few days later started a 5-day festival in the big town with rides, games and booths to eat and drink. Everybody from the area came to celebrate. On Monday there was a parade where different schools, clubs, bands and organizations walked through the town wearing costumes, making music and such. M&M walked with their school wearing chicken costumes. Note: you can click on pics to see them bigger

Maurice's 18th Birthday

Charly's nephew Maurice turned 18 years old. We went over to celebrate with him and give him his present. He also got his driver's license (you must be 18 in Germany to get one). His father let him borrow his car for a month so he was really happy. We had coffee and cake with the family and the next day he celebrated with his friends.

Handball Tournament

Marcus' class participated in a Handball Tournament. There were kids from different schools in our area, with maybe 15 teams in all. They were all in the 2nd grade. Marcus played really well and scored lots of goals. They also had to complete an obstacle course. They wore blue school t-shirts and of course Marcus had to have Jordan's number #23. They won 3rd Place! They got a trophy that each kid was allowed to take home for a few days before they placed it in the school trophy case.
